8th annual Milwaukee Black Restaurant Week celebrates local entrepreneurs

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- BlankSpaceMKE, an urban art cooperative, is hosting its 8th annual Milwaukee Black Restaurant Week. The event aims to raise awareness about social entrepreneurship and support Black-owned businesses in the area.

Founded by Bridget Whitaker and Symphony Zawadi, BlankSpaceMKE has dedicated the week to celebrating the entrepreneurship of local Black-owned restaurants. The effort seeks to help Milwaukee create practical strategies for building community wealth.

Over a dozen Black-owned restaurants have signed up to participate in this cooperative economics project.

The event will kick off at The Sherman Phoenix on Tuesday, April 25th, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., lasting until Sunday, April 30.

Participating restaurants include 1700 Pull Up, Belli's Bistro, Big Daddy's BBQ and Soul Food Restaurant, Brooks’ Balanced Kitchen, Brownstone Social Lounge, Confectionately Yours Cafe, Crave BBQ, Cream City Sports Bar, Delicious Bites, Funky Fresh Spring Rolls, Grandma’s Hands, Happy Days Day Bar, Junior’s Smoked BBQ, Rise and Grind Cafe and Turning Tables Tavern and Eatery.
