88 Year old World War II Vet scammed out of thousands

NEW BERLIN - A World War II Veteran who is excited to head to Washington D.C. next month on the Honor Flight becomes a victim of a door to door scam. An out of state tree service showed up at his door and said they'd take down and haul away an 85 foot tall oak tree in his backyard. Police say the 88 year old victim paid the company, Arborist Tree Care of Minnesota 55-hundred dollars up front for the job.  They cut the tree down, but left the wood and a 5 1/2 foot tall stump. Police tracked down someone claiming to be with the company that investigators say uses several names and telephone numbers. They told police they'd be back last Saturday to finish the job, but that never happened. Officials say if you have any questions about someone who comes to your door offering services for cash give police a call. They can tell you if the company is legitimate.  They also suggest to never pay in full before the job is complete.
