88-year-old man killed in Washington County crash

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Authorities say an 88-year-old man has died following a motor vehicle crash Wednesday, Jan. 11 in the Town of Erin.

Deputies responded to the intersection of Cty Tk K and Donegal Road around 5:30 p.m.

An investigation indicated that a vehicle operated by a single occupant-later identified as the 88-year-old man- failed to yield the right of way while driving northbound on Cty Tk K and attempted to turn west onto Donegal Road. A southbound vehicle carrying a driver and two passengers crashed into the vehicle.

The driver of the northbound vehicle was taken to Froedtert Menomonee Falls where he later died.

All occupants of the southbound vehicle were evaluated and released at the scene.

According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, the 88-year-old was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. They say failure to yield and heavy fog contributed to the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.

It marks Washington County's first traffic fatality in 2023.
