65-Year-Old Oconomowoc Man Hit in the Head by Large Branch

On Friday November 11 at approximately 8:10 AM, a resident located in the 700 block of Hillside Road in the Village of Richfield, contacted the Washington County Sheriff’s Office to request an ambulance for a man who was hit in the head by a log.

When emergency officials arrived rescue personnel were directed to a nearby wooded area, and located a 65-year-old Oconomowoc man with a significant head injury. Due to the nature and mechanism of his injury, rescue personnel requested Flight for Life to the scene.

Since a direct landing zone for Flight for Life was not available, the man was taken to a suitable area by ambulance. The man was then flown to Froedtert Hospital.

An investigation revealed that the Oconomowoc man and his wife were on the property cutting firewood. In the process of cutting down a dead tree, a large branch broke off of the trunk, and struck the man in the head.

While the man’s injuries are serious, they are not considered to be life threatening. There was no indication of foul play.
