5 Couples, Married 60 Years+ Celebrate Valentine's Day

WESTON, Wis. (WSAW) -- Five couples, all married at least six decades celebrated Valentine's Day together Tuesday for a special lunch as Renaissance Assisted Living in Weston.

So, what is their advice for staying together?

"I think it's just hanging in there. Believing in yourselves and one another. Right? Yeah,” explained Marge and Ed Stubbe.

And they should know-- the Stubbes have been married 61 years. Also celebrating that 60 year plus milestone is Howie and Dee Johnson. Their secret?

"I always kiddingly, say 'a short memory'. But it's compromise, learn to forgive, don't let anything eat at you. It goes along way"

Director Angela Ress said one of the couple that enjoyed Tuesday's special lunch recently celebrated 70 years of wedded bliss.
