43 students on school bus in West Bend involved in crash

On Friday, May 12 at 7:57 AM West Bend Police responded to an accident at the intersection of Schmidt Road and East Washington Street involving a school bus transporting elementary school children to Fair Park School.

Through investigation officers learned the bus was driving south on Schmidt Road when it rear ended a car that was stopped at the stop sign at East Washington Street. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

There were 43 students on the bus at the time of the crash. 

West Bend Fire Department Paramedics responded and checked the students for possible injuries. 14 students reported bumping into a seat or side of the bus. There were no visible injuries to any students and there were no complaints of injuries that required treatment.

The bus transported all the students to Fair Park School where they were released to school staff. West Bend Police Officers and school staff worked together to notify the parents of all of the students that were on the bus.

Police cited the 60-year-old male driver of the bus for Inattentive Driving.
