MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The public gathered on Thursday, May 8, to honor those who have given lives serving our communities.
The 35th annual Greater Milwaukee Law Enforcement Memorial was held at the War Memorial Center.
Officials took the podium and paid tribute to fallen members and families who made the ultimate sacrifice serving the greater Milwaukee area.
Police Chief Jeffrey Norman used four powerful words to show his appreciation to those who wear the badge.
"We shall never forget the ultimate sacrifice that they have given on behalf of our communities, we shall never forget that they put communities first, and their own lives second, we shall never forget that their sacrifice represents the best of us, in our profession," Chief Norman said.
Those who attended the memorial took a moment of silence paying tribute to those we shall never forget.
