33-Year-old woman accused of driving wrong-way on I-43

MILWAUKEE -- 33-year-old Alicia Sulok is charged with Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety after allegedly driving the wrong way on I-43 while under the influence of alcohol.

According to the criminal complaint, Sulok was spotted driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-43 near Chase Ave. around 2:20 a.m. A Milwaukee County Sheriff deputy was one of the multiple drivers who had to swerve to avoid being hit by Sulok. The deputy says he activated his emergency lights and followed Sulok's vehicle.

The sheriff's deputy says Sulok's vehicle came to a slow stop in the median distress lane. The complaint says Sulok stared at the deputy confusingly at the deputy as if she had no idea of her surroundings or her behavior. She eventually started driving the wrong way on I-43 again.

Sulok was stopped just south of the Mitchell Interchange. The criminal complaint states Sulok's blood alcohol level was .18. She was cited with first offense OWI.

If convicted of second degree recklessly endangering safety, Sulok will face up to 10 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
