30,000 cartons of shelf stable milk donated to Hunger Task Force, thanks to Kemps and Piggly Wiggly

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Hunger Task Force is getting much needed donations of milk. Piggly Wiggly, along with Kemps, donated 30,000 shelf stable "Giving Cow" milk cartons to the group.

The shelf-stable milk cartons can last for months at room temperature.

Keith Zuehlke, the sales director at Kemps, says the milk can help struggling families who can't afford regular milk at the store.

"This is all we make it for. It's not something we sell. We make it just for the opportunity to help out the local food banks," Zuehlke said.

Milk is one of the most needed but least donated things at food banks because most facilities don't have enough refrigerators to store it.
