Court records show 24-year-old Soe Hla and 34-year-old Lah Tah are each charged with burglary of a building as a party to a crime and possession of burglarious tools. Thirty-year-old Eh Pu Jaw is charged with burglary of a building as a party to a crime and bail jumping.

Records show officers responded to the school on Aug. 6 after security reported seeing flashlights inside the building, deemed a total loss after a massive fire in June.

According to the criminal complaint, officers found Tah hiding inside a storage room, wearing a backpack with tools inside, including lock picks and a flashlight. Hla was found hiding underneath stairs in the school, according to the complaint, wearing a backpack containing a portable saw, screwdrivers, and a headlamp.

Prosecutors say Jaw was found sleeping in the driver's seat of a vehicle about a block away from the school. The complaint says a firearm and controlled substances were located inside the vehicle.

When questioned, the complaint says Hla admitted to going into the building with another person to steal copper while a third person waited in the car, and Tah told investigators he entered the building to find items to sell. 

Milwaukee Public Schools says the Lincoln Avenue site is monitored 24 hours a day.

Preliminary hearings are set for Aug. 19.
