24-year-old woman's homicide marks 8th domestic violence death in Milwaukee this year
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 24-year-old woman is dead after a fatal shooting near 84th and Marion.
It happened at 10:40 a.m. on June 11, and police say it was domestic violence related.
The victim has been identified by family as Shadea Green.
Her death marks the eighth domestic violence related death in the city of Milwaukee this year.
Green's mother, Iris Williams, said her daughter will be remembered as a caring, outgoing and protective person.
The 24-year-old leaves behind 3-year-old Shavea Green, who she shares with the 33-year-old suspect.
Police are still looking for the suspect. On Monday, they surrounded an apartment complex near the scene where they believed the suspect to be. Ultimately, he was not there. His whereabouts are still unknown.
Williams said this wasn't the first violent incident between Green and the 33-year-old suspect.
"He had previously broke her jaw before when we were down here, and she told us," said Williams.
Williams made her way through the Milwaukee County Courthouse Wednesday afternoon to fight for custody of the 3-year-old girl left behind.
"I want her to remember that her momma loved her, and that was all she had, and he took her away from her. So, I don't have no remorse for him," said Williams.
A GoFundMe has been created to raise money for Shadea Green's funeral.
