24-year-old woman arrested after car chase with Mt. Pleasant Police

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) – A woman was arrested early Saturday morning after leading Mt. Pleasant Police on a car chase.

According to police, officers tried to stop a vehicle on State Highway 11 near Gates Street around 12:34 a.m. The car took off once the officer activated his lights and sirens.

Authorities say the chase went through Racine and the Village of Mount Pleasant lasting 0.7 miles. The suspect vehicle eventually stopped on Hickory Grove Ave. near Maryland Ave. A passenger got out of the car and ran.

Police say the driver, 24-year-old Camary Herrington, of Racine was taken into custody.

She’s being charged with knowingly fleeing and eluding a traffic officer.

Herrington told police she did not know who the passenger was but was just driving him because he gave her $5 for a ride home.

The incident remains under investigation.
