24 drivers arrested for OWI in Milwaukee County over New Year's weekend
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office arrested 24 people for drunk driving over New Year's weekend from Friday afternoon through Tuesday morning. The average BAC was 0.16.
Deputies arrested eight repeat offenders including two for their 5th OWIs, one for the 4th OWI and five for their second.
One of the drivers arrested for their 5th OWI was clocked going 100 mph on I-43 north near the Marquette Interchange early in the morning on Sunday morning, December 30. The car stopped near 14th and Walnut, told deputies he only had one beer and then blew a 0.232.
In one of the first OWI offenses deputies responded to a crash on I-43 south near Brown Deer Road. A Milwaukee woman said she had three shots and blew a 0.145. Deputies found a 6-month-old infant in the back seat of the car that was turned over to a relative.
