23-Year-Old Sheboygan Falls Man Dies After Being Hit By A Van

SHEBOYGAN COUNTY - An early morning accident leaves a pedestrian dead in the Town of Rhine. At 4:36 AM this morning, the Sheboygan County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call advising that a van had struck a pedestrian on County Road P just north of County Road A, in the Town of Rhine. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene.
The preliminary investigation reveals that a van was southbound on County Road P when it struck a pedestrian. The van operator remained at the scene and called law enforcement. The pedestrian, 23-year-old Shawn Kaufert of Sheboygan Falls was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this point, alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the accident.
