$20,000 prize up for grabs in Wauwatosa live painting competition 🎨
ART 64 WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- ART 64, a live painting competition where the public votes in real time, is returning to Wauwatosa on June 5 - 6 with a $20,000 grand prize, according to a Tuesday, Jan. 20 press release.
The bracket-style tournament will allow 64 artists to compete in three rounds. Each artist is guaranteed a minimum of $100, with prize amounts increasing as the tournament progresses. The final 16 artists compete for the $20,000 grand prize.
The application is now open at DiscoverART64.com to any artist over 18. The application fee is $20, and the deadline is midnight March 1. Accepted artists will be notified March 20.
Last year's ART 64 reportedly drew over 11,000 people to Wauwatosa, with more than 12,000 votes cast and over 100 tournament paintings sold. Participants came from 14 states as well as Spain and Mexico.
Artist Jianqiao Luan won last year's $20,000 grand prize. Luan said winning made him more confident and helped his art career.
