WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two West Allis Police Department officers discharged their weapons at a suspect during a domestic violence incident Sunday, Sept. 28,
Officials were called to 69th and Becher around 5:20 p.m. for a report of a 39-year-old man assaulting his girlfriend. Initial information, according to police, indicated the man pushed his girlfriend to the ground, pressed a handgun to her head and told her she could not leave.
The male suspect, officials say, also armed himself with a knife, pointed it at his girlfriend and threatened to kill her.
Police arrived and the suspect exited the residence and sat on the front porch. Officers attempted to give commands and approach the suspect, but officials say he made a furtive movement, and one officer fired his weapon and another fired a patrol rife.
The suspect was not struck or injured and retreated into the residence.
After a short time and additional communication, the suspect and victim exited the residence. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
A search warrant was later conducted at the residence and 3 firearms and knife matching the witness’ description were located and seized.
No officers were injured during the incident.
The suspect will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office for domestic violence related charges.
An investigation is ongoing.
