2 students robbed on their way to East High School in Wauwatosa

WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two East High School students were robbed as they walked to school Friday morning, Jan. 8. 

The Wauwatosa School District says it happened at approximately 7:45 a.m. near 81st Street and Woodland Avenue. 

The Wauwatosa Police Department is working to identify the offender, the school district says, and will have extra patrols in the area before and after school today and the coming days ahead. 

Counselors are available for students who are looking for support.

"Hello Wauwatosa Families,

I would like to share some information about an event that happened today in our community. At approximately 7:45 am, in the 2000 block of N. 81st Street, two East High School students were victims of a robbery as they walked to school. The Wauwatosa Police Department is working to identify the offender and will have extra patrols in the area before and after school today and for the days ahead. School counselors are available for students who desire support related to this incident.

I want to reassure you that the safety and security of our students and staff will always be our top priority. By working together, we will keep our community a safe place to learn and grow. Thank you for your continued support.
