2 Alarm fire at Miller Park leads to stadium restrictions for Monday's game

MILWAUKEE -- Firefighters responded to a two-alarm blaze inside of T.G.I. Friday's Front Row at Miller Park overnight.

Officials say the call came in around 2 a.m. Monday and emergency crews saw thick, black smoke coming from the restaurant upon arrival.

Investigators say it appears the fire may have started in the kitchen area, near a stove or fryer. 

Firefighters moved to the roof as the flames and smoke quickly spread to a duct system inside the restaurant. 

It took nearly an hour to get the blaze under control, according to fire officials. 

There is no damage to the seating area of the stadium, but the restaurant sustained heavy water damage. Fire officials estimate the fire caused $700,000 in damage to the Fridays, which was just renovated in the spring.

Monday's home game against the Cincinnati Reds will go on as scheduled, but there are stadium restrictions.

There will be no working elevators or escalators at the left field entrance. Fans using this entrance should be prepared to use stairs and ramps.

Elevators and escalators at the home plate and right field entrances will be in service. 

The left field concession stand and the Miller Park Conference Center meeting rooms on the Club and Terrace Levels are also closed until further notice.

Fans who have tickets in the T.G.I. Friday's Front Row seating area will be contacted by the Brewers for alternate seating options. 

Miller Park officials say it could be a while before the restaurant re-opens.

Fire officials tell CBS 58 there are reports that smoke detectors may not have been working. No injuries were reported and the official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
