19-year-old Milwaukee man charged in assault near UWM

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 19-year-old Milwaukee man is accused of assaulting a woman near the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus.

The assault happened in the 3200 block of North Oakland Avenue on Tuesday, Nov. 12.

According to a criminal complaint, a man named 19-year-old Jaelen Durham, grabbed a victim from behind by her knees and picked her up off the ground. When the victim realized she didn't know the suspect, investigators say she began to scream and hit him.

Officials say the victim reported Durham put her down and "began staring at her," so she ran across the street and Durham followed.

According to the complaint, the victim ran into a nearby restaurant and captured video of Durham pacing outside while he watched her.

Investigators say Durham admitted he inappropriately touched a student on the UWM campus. He stated to officials it was a "spontaneous decision" and he regrets doing it.

Durham was charged with disorderly conduct.
