19-year-old from Texas dead after crash in Fond du Lac County
FOND DU LAC Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal crash on Thursday, July 25.
It happened around 7:41 a.m. near CTH D and Hawes Court in Fond du Lac.
Authorities responded to calls reporting a two-vehicle crash.
Upon investigation, it was determined a southbound vehicle failed to negotiate a curve, overcorrected, and entered the northbound lane, resulting in a head on collision with a northbound vehicle.
The southbound vehicle was occupied by three people, according to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office. It was driven by a 19-year-old from Pharr, Texas. The 19-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. The 19-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two occupants sustained minor injuries and were transported to a hospital, according to the sheriff's office.
The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 48-year-old from Oakfield, Wisconsin, was wearing her seatbelt and was uninjured.
Witnesses at the scene reported observing the 19-year-old male speeding prior to the crash. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors to the incident, according to the sheriff's department.
The investigation is ongoing.
