RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An 18-year-old is dead after a fatal shooting in Racine on Tuesday, March 10, 

On social media, the Horlick High School’s football page, Rebel Football, identified the victim as Trent Harper. Harper graduated from Horlick High School last year and was a part of the football’s playoff team in 2024.

Racine police say they were called to Republic Avenue and 32nd Street around 1 a.m. for a shooting. When police arrived, Harper was shot in the stomach. He later died.

On Facebook, Rebel Football remembered Harper for his “incredible spirit, tough work ethic, and team-first mentality.”

Rebel Football also condemned gun violence, writing, “the young people in this community need guidance more than ever in conflict resolution,” and encouraged everyone to “put the guns down” and “do better.”

Racine police say the shooting was isolated. Police have not confirmed if there is a suspect in custody but say anyone with additional information should reach out to the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at 262-635-7756, or to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 262-636-9330.  


RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A homicide investigation is underway in Racine after police say an 18-year-old man was killed in a shooting early Tuesday morning, March 10. 

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Republic Avenue around 1 a.m. for reports of shots fired and people yelling and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim died from his injuries despite lifesaving efforts. 

Police say the homicide is believed to be an isolated incident.
