CEDARBURG, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A family is mourning the death of a teen following a single-vehicle crash in Cedarburg. It happened early Monday morning.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Family identified him as 17-year-old Noah Sabourin. The Ozaukee County Sheriff's Office says a 2004 silver Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Bridge Road at a high rate of speed before entering a ditch and hitting a tree line on the north side of the road.

Officials estimate the crash took place around 1:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25. However, the crash was first noticed by a passerby at approximately 7:40 a.m.

Tuesday morning, Sabourin's grandmother, Debbie Gabert, visited the crash site to look for his cellphone, which had not been found yet.

While she was there, she also placed a cross in his honor. "I wanted to do this for Noah and for Gina, his mom...because I know she would have trouble coming out here. It's hard," Gabert said.

Noah was a senior at Cedarburg High School. He loved sports and his family. His grandmother says he was witty and compassionate, with an amazing personality.

"He didn't care what everyone else was doing or saying, or about being cool. Noah was his own style," she said. Gabert says Noah often has trouble sleeping at night and would go out to drive and clear his mind.

Officials say speed was a factor in the crash. "He was speeding. Kids need to really be careful. You're not invincible," Gabert said.

Noah was looking forward to graduating and also enjoyed working at Anvil Pub & Grill.  "He took pride in his work," Gabert said.

A Gofundme page has been set up to assist the family.
