The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says they responded to the scene on Park Lane, shortly before 9:00 p.m.
Officials say the initial investigation showed a small fire started after the teen used a lighter to melt plastic keys to a keyboard to repair it, and a nearby bottle of isopropyl alcohol ignited.
The fire was extinguished prior to fire department arrival, with very minimal damage inside the apartment.
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office says the 16-year-old victim was flown to Children's Hospital in Milwaukee for his injuries.
He has suspected serious, but non-life threatening injuries, and remains hospitalized.
The fire is considered accidental, and it was determined that it was not intentional.
The teen’s school district and School Resource Officer (SRO) were notified as part of their Handle With Care team, so that appropriate resources may be made available for the patient and other students.
