16-year-old driver taken to Children's Hospital after trying to cross in front of train

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Saturday afternoon around 3:45 the Washington County Sheriff’s Office was called to a car versus train crash that happened on Aurora Road north of County Highway K in Addison.

When emergency officials arrived they found the driver of the car, a 16-year-old Hartford boy, was stuck inside the car.

The driver was extricated and taken to Children's Hospital.

Authorities believe the car disregarded the bells and flashing red signal signifying an approaching train. The car tried to cross the tracks in front of the train but was hit in the rear driver’s side causing it to spin. The car then hit a sign near the tracks before stopping.
