MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A 16-year-old boy is facing charges following a fatal car crash in Milwaukee.

According to a criminal complaint, Jesus Cardenas-Torres is facing charges of knowingly operating a motor vehicle without a valid license causing death and knowingly operating a motor vehicle without a valid license causing great bodily harm.

Court documents state police officers saw an SUV speeding on March 22 around 1:30 a.m. near Greenfield Ave. and 23rd St.

Traffic cameras show the car eventually in the area near 20th and Orchard where it disregarded a stop sign, entered an intersection and hit another car that was legally entering the intersection. According to the criminal complaint, the SUV t-boned the car.

Officers got to the scene moments after the crash and took Cardenas-Torres into custody.

Police learned the car that was hit was an Uber with two passengers. One passenger was ejected from the car, the driver and other passenger remained in the car. The passenger in the car, 22-year-old Christian Marlyn Hernandez died from her injuries.

The passenger that was ejected was seriously hurt.

Court documents state Cardenas-Torres told police he knew he wasn’t allowed to drive.
