12-year-old boy dies in Fond du Lac, mother charged with child neglect
Fond du Lac County Sheriff\'s Office FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Fond du Lac woman has been charged with child neglect causing death. According to court documents, Tina Beauprey's 12-year-old son weighed just 56 pounds at the time of his death.
Beauprey was arrested on Jan. 23, after a nearly two-month long investigation by the Fond du Lac Police Department.
A criminal complaint says the victim -- Jeremiah Beauprey -- had Duchenne Musical Dystrophy, was in a wheelchair, and dependent on caregivers for much of his care. In May of 2024, officials say the child was placed in foster care and weighed 80 pounds.
In November of 2024, the child was placed back in Beauprey's care and by April of 2025, they had lost nearly 15 pounds.
On Dec. 5, Jeremiah died.
Authorities say Tina Beauprey failed to provide proper care and medical attention for her son.
An autopsy ruled the cause of death starvation ketoacidosis.
Jeremiah's obituary describes him as a joyful, gentle boy with a big sense of humor and a love for the Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, and Elvis.
The obituary said in part Jeremiah, "faced the challenges of DMD with incredible bravery and a spirit that shone brightly through every moment."
Beauprey is due in court for a hearing on Feb. 2.
