MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A man was taken into custody on Friday, Oct. 6 after shooting another man, then fleeing the scene.

The shooting took place around 5:31 p.m. near Clinton and 51st. The 43-year-old victim was conveyed to a local hospital and is expected to survive, according to police.

The MPD Captain spoke about the incident for 38 seconds before walking off, despite a massive police response, concerns of an active shooter, and an hour-long man hunt that spilled into Brown Deer.

MPD Captain Warren Allen Jr confirmed that a 42-year-old man shot a 43-year-old before fleeing. Police searched for the suspect, dispatchers were coordinating K9 search teams and drone coverage as they searched for the suspect.

A car was located, which was believed to be connected to the shooting.

The car was empty. Shortly after, Brown Deer Police tracked down the suspect and chased him. The suspect was arrested near Green Bay Road and Cedarburg Road. A gun was recovered.

CBS 58 tried asking Allen questions as he walked off, the only thing he said was the shooting resulted from an argument.

According to police, the investigation is ongoing.
