Work on next segment of I-94 East-West project to begin Feb. 2
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers has approved $61 million for the next segment of the I-94 East-West project in Milwaukee County, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT).
The "Early East Leg" segment will take place between 25th St. and 30th St. and in the 27th St. and St. Paul Avenue corridors.
WisDot says the work will involve a long-term closure of 27th St. as well as a long-term closure of the I-94 eastbound exit to 28th St./St. Paul Avenue. Drivers can use 35th St. or 13th St. exits as a detour.
Officials say utility work must be done on the 28th St. entrance ramp to I-94 westbound before construction begins. A two-month closure of the entrance ramp will begin in late January.
Work is scheduled to begin Feb. 2. Construction on the Early East Leg is scheduled to be complete in 2028.
