Woman who killed Sussex dog while babysitting now back in custody, accused of stealing cash, guns
SUSSEX, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two people are facing charges after court documents allege they broke into a Sussex home and stole cash and multiple firearms.
Records obtained by CBS 58 say Samuel Stryker, 17, and Kielee Sonnemann, 19, along with other teens, burglarized a residence on Silver Spring Drive in September.
If Sonnemann's name sounds familiar, that's because last November, she pleaded guilty to brutally killing the dog of a family she was babysitting for.
She initially pleaded not guilty by way of insanity but that was denied.
Sonnemann was sentenced to nine months in jail and three years of probation.
But now, she's back in custody.
Documents say Sonnemann, Stryker, and others broke into the home and found several gun safes filled with weapons, including shotguns, handguns, and rifles, before heading to a nearby park to fire them.
The owner of the burgled home told detectives he owns the property but hasn't lived there since 2022, and discovered the break-in last week, with between 12 to 15 guns stolen.
Sonnemann, however, told officials she believed the home was abandoned. Now she's in the Waukesha County Jail on a $2,500 cash bail.
Stryker will have his next court hearing on Oct. 9. and Sonnemann's will follow weeks later on Oct. 27.
