Woman seriously hurt after colliding with farm equipment in Kenosha County, bystander arrested during investigation
KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 40-year-old Woman is in critical condition after being involved in a head-on collision with a large piece of farm equipment in Burlington on Fri. Nov. 28th.
The incident happened at approximately 8:39 p.m., in the 34500 block of Basset Road.
According to the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office the woman, driving a 2025 Nissan Rogue, collided head-on with a John Deer grain drill being towed by a 43-year-old man in a 2011 Ford F-350.
The crash caused the woman to be ejected from the vehicle, and crews transported her via Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, where she remains in critical condition.
Officials say the driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators, but at this stage, alcohol does not appear to have been a contributing factor.
Because of the severity of the crash, the Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to help investigate the crash.
During this team, a nearby resident, identified as 39-year-old Kevin Berglund, began shining a flashlight toward deputies and a drone.
The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office says Berglund was given multiple commands to stop and was told several times to return inside his residence.
He refused to comply and began yelling at deputies, who believe he was intoxicated.
While attempting to address the disturbance, officials say Berglund continued advancing toward them and actively resisted attempts to detain him.
During the incident, the drone operator got distracted, causing the drone to collide with nearby trees and crash.
Berglund was arrested and is facing charges of Resisting and Obstructing, Disorderly Conduct, and Criminal Damage to Property.
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
