Woman looking for car repairs gets ripped off in internet scam

MILWAUKEE- A Milwaukee woman thought she found a good mechanic on craigslist, but instead she got ripped off.

Kina Murff said that back in November she found a mechanic on craigslist in West Allis.

She dropped her car off, but after a couple days was told it was stolen.

After reporting it stolen and searching for months, the car turned up last week at LKQ, an auto parts yard.

Murff got her car towed back to her home, but noticed it had been stripped for parts.

According to the BBB, LKQ has an F rating with 77 complaints closed with the BBB in three years. (LKQ BBB info HERE)

West Allis Police said they've arrested one person in this case and have a number of other solid suspects.

They added that this is an on-going investigation.

Because of the time without her car, Murff said she had to drop out of school and postpone a surgery.
