WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A woman is in custody following the stabbing of a 6-year-old boy in West Allis Monday night, Sept. 6.

The child was identified by the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office as Hank Brown-Rockow.

The West Allis Police Department said they're not looking for any other suspects, and charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. They did not specify what the woman's involvement was.

CBS 58 talked to neighbors following the incident. They all said they're devastated to hear the news. They say the family has lived on the block near 76th and Orchard for about a year.

This particular block, neighbors say, is filled with younger children and it's evident from all of the toys spread out in the front yards.

Neighbors say three kids lived in the home where the stabbing took place.

John Zychowicz said his kids often played with the two older children in the home, but he rarely saw the 6-year-old.

"[They'd] ride bikes in the front here, it’s just, you know, sad," said Zychowicz.

One neighbor said they saw a dozen of police cars and an ambulance around 4 p.m. Monday. He was also shocked to hear what happened.

"There’s a lot of close-knit families on the block, obviously the kids are free to play here, it’s a relatively safe environment," said neighbor Brian Brinkley. "You can see lots of toys in yards, clearly it’s a family neighborhood."

Police have not yet named a suspect. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiners Office says they're still investigating what happened.

An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 8.
