Woman arrested after leaving baby alone in car at Brown Deer Walmart

BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Officers with the Brown Deer Police Department responded to the Walmart in Brown Deer for a report of a baby left alone.

The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. on Friday.

According to police, a 13-month-old baby was left alone in an unlocked car. The baby was not in any distress.

Officers made contact with the mother, a 20-year-old Mequon mother, who left the baby in the vehicle to sleep while she went into the store to shop.

The woman was arrested, conveyed to the station, booked, and released.

Charges of Child Neglect will be reviewed by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
