Woman Allegedly Admits to Picking Up Receipts and Using Them to Return Items for Cash

An Illinois woman allegedly used receipts found on the ground in Mount Pleasant to return items for cash.

Ashley Burgdorf was charged with misdemeanor theft, obstructing an officer and felony bail jumping.

According to the criminal complaint, the woman allegedly told police she picked up receipts off the ground and attempted to return items for money.

She allegedly told police that the money that was in her purse was from a return she just did.

Burgdorf allegedly selected numerous items and attempted to return items that she did not purchase to Walmart. She allegedly received $72.36 for the return.
