MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- I-94 traffic shifts Tuesday night, Oct. 13, to create a median work zone, with eastbound traffic moving onto new concrete pavement in the cemetery section, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.

Sean Race of WisDOT joined us Tuesday to discuss the I-94 East-West Freeway project and game traffic for Brewers home games.

As part of the shift, the I-94 eastbound exit ramp to General Mitchell Blvd. and the General Mitchell Blvd. entrance ramp to I-94 westbound close Tuesday night through spring 2027. Both ramps will reopen for all Brewers home playoff games.

Over the weekend, the project installed an automated lane closure system, known as a SwiftGate, on westbound I-94 near General Mitchell Blvd. It was in place for the games Sunday and Monday and aims to help the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office close a westbound lane to ease post-game traffic. Swing gates attached to the barrier wall can be deployed and turned off remotely.
