Wisconsin Man Crashes Car into Parked Vehicle and Residence Than Left the Scene

Janesville, WI (Channel 3000) A suspected drunken driver crashed into a parked vehicle and a residence, according to a release from the Janesville Police Department.

Officers were called at 11:56 p.m. Thursday to the 400 block of East Centerway Street on a report of a traffic crash with injury.

Police said a vehicle traveling west on East Centerway Street left the road and struck a residence and a legally parked vehicle. A witness gave police a description of the driver, who was seen running away.

Minutes later, the Rock County Communications Center received a call from a man wanting to report his vehicle stolen. Officers contacted the man near the Janesville Police Department, and his appearance matched the description of the man seen running from the crash. The man denied wanting to report the vehicle being stolen, police said.

The man, James D. Connelly, 23, of Janesville, resisted officers when he was detained, according to the release. Police said he had marijuana.

Connelly refused to take field sobriety tests or to provide a blood sample, police said. A search warrant was used to get a blood sample. The results of the tests are still pending.

Connelly was arrested on suspicion of first-offense operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, hit-and-run to property adjacent to a highway and on a probation violation.
