MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In a rare moment of unity, Wisconsin lawmakers condemned the deadly surprise attacks by the militant group Hamas on Israel civilians.
The assembly passed a resolution on Thursday, Oct. 12 which outlines the brutal attack over the weekend. Lawmakers held a moment of silence on the floor to honor the lives lost, including at least 27 Americans.
"Making clear the Wisconsin State Assembly and the State of Wisconsin stands with our friends in Israel during this unprecedented and terrible, terrible time the people are going through based on these terrorist attacks," said State Representative Tyler August.
In Congress, the House is also hoping to vote on a similar measure, but the efforts is stalled until they elect a replacement for recently ousted speaker Kevin McCarthy.
