Wisconsin gubernatorial candidates debate minimum wage

MILWAUKEE -- In his weekly video address, President Barack Obama made yet another plea for raising the minimum wage. The gubernatorial candidates Scott Walker and Mary Burke discussed raising the state's minimum wage in their first debate. The debate is to raise the minimum wage from $7.25 to $10.10.

Burke says paying people the current minimum wage makes them more dependent on public assistance. Walker fired back saying he invested $100,000,000 to Workforce Development to train people for new jobs.

Recently the minimum wage came up in a rally when US Congresswoman Gwen Moore was arrested on Miller Parkway during a minimum wage protest.

The minimum wage debate is on the November ballot as a referendum advisory. That means leaders will just use it to gauge public opinion and the vote isn't final.
