Wisconsin DNR to conduct free nitrate screening in well water at Farm Technology Days 💦

BARABOO, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced in a Thursday, July 6 press release that it is providing free well water testing for nitrate at Farm Technology Days in Baraboo.

The service is aimed at identifying nitrate, the most common health-related contaminant, in Wisconsin's groundwater. The screening is scheduled for three consecutive days from Tuesday, July 18, through Thursday, July 20.

Participants will find the DNR's Drinking Water and Groundwater Program table at booth 719.

Attendees are encouraged to bring one cup of well water in a clean container. DNR staff will conduct on-the-spot testing, and results will be available within minutes.

In addition, information regarding the American Rescue Plan Act well grant programs will be provided. Those with elevated nitrate levels may receive recommendations for additional testing.
