Several Wisconsin Republican congressmen are asking for an explanation from the President Donald Trump's administration.
This follows the Monday evening Washington Post report that Trump revealed "highly classified information" to the Russian foreign minister and ambassador.
Monday evening, a spokesman for Speaker Paul Ryan said, "We have no way to know what was said, but protecting our nation's secrets is paramount. The speaker hopes for a full explanation of the facts from the administration."
Trump posted two tweets Tuesday morning which were seemingly referencing the report.
Republican Congressman Mike Gallagher (WI-8) also took to twitter Tuesday morning.
A spokeswoman for Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-5) said, "Congressman Sensenbrenner wasn’t privy to the conversation and doesn’t know what was said. The President should work with the intelligence committees to ensure that Congress is fully briefed on what was shared and why."
A spokeswoman for Congressman Glenn Grothman (WI-6) said, "Congressman Grothman is looking forward to Congress being briefed on the matter."
