MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Investment, romance and home improvement scams remain among the top threats targeting older adults, according to data presented by the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau.
Andy Ketchum, vice president of operations for the Wisconsin BBB, joined us Monday, June 2 to offer some details about recent scam trends reported in the organization’s latest Scam Tracker Risk Report.
The BBB advises avoiding unsolicited calls, researching all contractors and businesses through BBB.org and never sharing personal or financial information with unknown individuals. Scammers reportedly often impersonate government agencies or family members in emergencies or offer fraudulent investment opportunities.
Residents can register at DoNotCall.gov or by calling (888) 382-1222 to reduce phone solicitations.
More information can be found by visiting the Wisconsin BBB online.
