Whitewater schools placed on morning lockdown after student reports seeing someone with knife

WHITEWATER Wis. (CBS 58) -- The lockdown at Whitewater Middle School and Whitewater High School has now been lifted.

At approximately 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, a student reported seeing another student with a knife in the hallway. 

The Whitewater Police Department, the UW-Whitewater Police and the Walworth County Sheriff’s office responded and conducted two searches of the Whitewater High School resulting in a Hold/Lock at the Whitewater High School and Middle School. Precautions were also taken at Lincoln Elementary due to the proximity to the Whitewater High School.

A room by room search, outdoor search and searches of the facility and students matching the reported clothing descriptions were conducted. No weapons were found. Classes have resumed with a heightened sense of awareness.
