Whitefish Bay School District to transition to optional, but recommended mask-wearing

WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Whitefish Bay School Board decided Wednesday, Feb. 23 to transition to optional, but recommended mask-wearing under certain conditions.

The district says the transition will begin on Monday, Feb. 28, for all students, staff and visitors (with the exception of 4K students). Students in 4K will continue wearing masks due to lack of access to vaccines. 

All other mitigation strategies outlined in the In-Person Learning Plan will remain in place.

The school district says they will continue to monitor Covid-19 transmission rates in schools and adapt accordingly. 

Each Friday, a Covid-19 dashboard will be updated to indicate if mask-wearing will be required for the upcoming week, beginning on the following Monday. Families and staff will receive an email communication on Fridays if there is a change in mask-wearing policies for the coming weeks.
