Western Wisconsin animal hospital helps injured bald eagle

HOLMEN, Wis. (CBS 58) – A western Wisconsin animal hospital is putting a cast on the leg of an injured bald eagle.

The eagle was brought to the animal hospital in Holmen earlier this week after officials say it was hit by a car and found on the side of the road.

“What happens a lot of times is there is deer that are hit by cars and if they’re left on the shoulder of the road, the eagles will go there to eat. Because they’re slow on taking off, that’s typically when they get hit,” said Kathy KasaKaitas with the Coulee Region Humane Society.

The eagle will spend some time in a long-term recovery center before being released.
