West Allis-West Milwaukee School District sells property to help with financial issues

MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis.  (CBS 58) -- The West Allis-West Milwaukee School District took a step forward Friday in trying to solve their financial issues.

They announced the sale of some properties on 70th and Washington in West Allis. The buyer intends to turn them into retail and commercial office space.

The school district says they've been working to recover from a financial crisis for years and selling underused and vacant properties is just one way they're hoping to improve their finances.

The sale was made for just over $7 million.
