West Allis West Milwaukee School District Considers Consolidating Middle Schools

CBS 58— Some middle schoolers in the West Allis West Milwaukee School District might be going to a new school next year.

Consolidating students the latest step to cut costs after the district overspent by $14 million between 2013 and 2015.

Wednesday night the district held a meeting about a proposal to send students at Lincoln Intermediate School to the other three intermediate schools in the strict.

Last month the district sold some properties including the administration building in an effort to rebuild depleted reserves. Under the proposal discussed Wednesday, programs from those buildings, like the alternative high school, will move to Lincoln, and next year Lincoln students will be spread out among the other three middle schools.

The proposal will go before the school board February 27.
