West Allis Police warn of credit card skimming machines
West Allis Police are sharing the photos of two suspects believed to be involved in a credit card skimming scheme. The two were photographed at West Allis ATMs on Sunday, August 16, 2015.
Skimming involves adding a small device to the front of ATM card readers that collects information from everyone that slides their card through the machine. Then, thieves can use the collected data to either ring up charges online, duplicate the cards and use them in-store, or sell the list of card numbers to other criminals.
Police advice everyone to be aware of your surroundings when using ATMs. Check the machine for any suspicious devices, and if you see anything unusual, don't use the machine, just call police.
If you recognize either of these suspects or have additional information about this incident call WAPD at (414) 302-8000.
