We Energies: Raccoon gets into equipment, causes power outage for around 16,000 people

UPDATE: According to a We Energies spokesperson, a raccoon got into some equipment and caused an outage. It caused an outage for around 16,000 people. They say power was restored to 8,000 customers after 10:00 p.m. 

According to We Energies, they expect the vast majority of customers who lost power will be restored within the hour as crews continue to work. 


MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- According to the We Energies outage map, there are around 15,000 reported outages in Milwaukee County as of 9:54 p.m. on Saturday, April 20.

The most affected areas appear to be South Milwaukee and Oak Creek. 

CBS 58 reached out to We Energies regarding the outages. They say they have crews on scene and will provide an update on the cause, as well as the restoration time.
