WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Little Read Book, a fixture in the Wauwatosa village for 40 years, will close next month.
The small, independent bookstore on State Street has been known and loved for its children's room and its inventory shaped by customer requests.
Linda Burg opened the store in 1985 in the kitchen of what was most recently the Firefly Tosa restaurant on Harwood Avenue. The Village of Wauwatosa says the store moved to its current location in 1989. Her husband, Fred, joined her after he retired as a social worker, and now they want to spend more time with their eight grandchildren.
The last day for The Little Read Book will be July 18. Their full inventory will be on sale beginning June 15. The village says hours are typically 11 a.m.-2 p.m. but may vary, so call to confirm.
