WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person was transported to the hospital following a fire at a home in Wauwatosa Thursday, Jan. 8. 

Just before 9 a.m., officials were called to the home near 96th and Fiebrantz and encountered flames and heavy smoke. 

According to the Wauwatosa Fire Department, there was significant fire damage to the home, and major areas of the roof were damaged. 

One person was home at the time of the fire and was transported to a hospital with minor burns to their hands and slight smoke inhalation. 

A family pet was found dead in the home. 

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
